Our Leadership Team

Mark Brenner is CEO and co-founder of WEST, a subsidiary of Wiss. WEST provides proprietary technology, service and process to help early stage companies maintain a strong financial foundation, increase their probability of success, and obtain a return on sacrifice for founders and investors.

Prior to WEST, Mark founded three companies and ran them each as CEO to either a sale or IPO. Two of these companies have grown to over $100 million in revenue. He has over 13 years of venture capital and M&A investment banking experience, led a turnaround as interim CEO, and headed Corporate Partnerships for a public company. Overall, Mark had guided over 60 companies through investment transactions and exits before co-founding WEST.

As Chief Client Officer, Donna oversees the servicing of clients in WEST, a subsidiary of Wiss & Company LLP. WEST (Wiss Early Stage Technology) is a financial management and business advancement program for early stage companies designed to optimize our client’s success. WEST’s mission is to help founders deliver a return on their sacrifice.

Donna has worked in WEST since client #1. She plays an instrumental part in developing the operational procedures for the accounting team, providing input in the design of WEST’s proprietary software programs, and growing the business through customer referrals. Donna is responsible for hiring, training, and supervising the Account Managers who work hands-on with the clients.

Prior to joining Wiss & Company LLP, Donna was co-owner of an accounting practice in Northern New Jersey for 15 years. Donna’s high level of customer focus was key to growing the business from just a handful of small business clients to over hundreds. Donna brings this same energy and dedication to WEST.

Donna is currently on the Accounting Advisory Board at Seton Hall University. She is also an Executive Mentor at The Gerald P. Buccino ’63 Center for Leadership Development Program and Woman’s Leadership Program, both at Seton Hall University. Donna previously volunteered her time working with mentally challenged students. This included teaching life skills and participating in local community events with the students.

Matt Barbieri has over 15 years of experience providing accounting and auditing services to some of the firm’s largest clients. His depth of experience includes audits, reviews, compilations and tax services. He provides business advisory and audit services to individuals, privately held businesses, publicly traded enterprises and companies pursuing IPO.

As a Partner-in-Charge of the Media, Technology and Life Sciences group, his focus ranges from start-up companies in their inception stages and seed financing to helping developed companies and continuing their organic growth. He stays in touch with important and current issues by regularly attending tech meet-ups.

Matt is also an active speaker to the accounting society at Rider, presenting on various topics related to the public accounting industry.

Tom Alexander serves as Chief Marketing Officer with a focus on building and sustaining the Wiss client-first brand, driving business development and collaborating with the executive team to initiate and uphold customer care initiatives. Tom is also Chief Marketing Officer with WEST Growth, a subsidiary of Wiss, where he leads communication initiatives to generate awareness and adoption of the proprietary WEST Growth platform, and also serves as brand marketing advisor to WEST client partners.

With over 25 years as a senior-level marketing executive, Tom’s professional experience has ranged from working with major media organizations, cable networks, advertising and marketing companies, to more recently with early and mid-stage growth companies, launching enterprise software platforms, media technologies, web and mobile products.  He is an accomplished business strategist and marketer, earning over 40 leading industry awards for his contributions.

Sean Colrick is Director of Client Advisory at WEST Growth, a subsidiary of Wiss.  Sean manages various aspects of the group’s operations and partnerships, while working closely with the Founders of WEST’s client portfolio; providing Founders with access to a wide network of investors, opportunities, and corporate contacts to help scale their respective businesses.

Prior to joining WEST, Sean founded three companies running them each as their CEO. His entrepreneurship started in college when he founded his first company in online retail and wholesale distribution of sporting goods. Quickly moving into the corporate insurance space, Sean held various Corporate Strategy and Business Development roles working with Fortune 500 Companies. Most recently, he founded and scaled a technology enabled Insurance Services Firm. Under his leadership, the business scaled to over 120 insurance brokerage partners and a team of over 300 insurance professionals.
